Welcome to Pink Mouse Pub Issue Number 4

This issue was a long-time in the making, but certainly worth the wait.  There are many talented poets in this issue and I am pleased to showcase all of their work.  I feel especially honored to include the work of Mr. Sirowitz; a talented poet that was recently featured on Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac - (http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php?date=2009/04/01  - how lucky for our little magazine to have so many wonderful contributors.  Oh, and there is a new page of artwork by Mr. Mccrea that is something a little new for PinkMouse; a sneak peak of his work is featured on the home page.   There's only so much room on the front page, so please use the navigation bar to peruse all the pages and poetry.  Enjoy!

Let's try this again - let's revive the Poetry Contest - please submit your entries now.   A new issue will be coming soon for Spring 2010 and my hopes are pinned on having a winning poem appear on the home page.  If you already submitted an entry there is no need to resubmit - if you'd like to submit additional entries - feel free to do so.  The contest is free - there is no fee to enter and there is no monetary award to the winner - only the joy of winning and the honor of having your work front and center at the home of PinkMouse.

Late Night Music

Tessie dances in her mind now
the charleston
on a smooth wooden ballroom floor
in brooklyn.
twirls around in the pink nightgown
under the
covers
takes the top teeth out
smiles
sips water from the green glass.

conversation now
roulette wheel style
how are you?
how is your brother?
i had soup for dinner
am i too thin?
how are you?
how is your brother?

i remind myself to be gentle
kind
slow the words down
keep the tone up
wonder how
at 97
she makes it through the day.

i'm going to run
away
she said
sometimes
i
feel like that too.

or dance
on concrete
because i
still
can.
